*...reason for the company’s success was the direction of the singers and instrumentalists by DKF.
* THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE FROM A PACKED HOUSE
— Syracuse Opera, PORGY AND BESS
The orchestra played beautifully, with precise work from the various soloists. Conductor DKF maintained a fairly urgent pulse and admirable clarity. For the most part, it didn’t matter whether you listened with your eyes opened or shut; the voices and orchestra carried the whole dramatic burden. The music hit a bulls-eye, and the listener felt transported.
— Anchorage Opera, MADAMA BUTTERFLY

One rarely hears voices and text woven into the symphonic fabric, even in concerts of choral masterworks by quality ensembles. Our orchestra responded to conductor DKF’s inspiration, and responded with palpable emotion. The combination was transcendent.

— THE DIFFICULTY OF CROSSING A FIELD, OPERA NEWS 'Critic's choice'
Conductor DKF did a tremendous job directing Mozart’s stirring final masterpiece. His interpretation turned this into an intensely personal statement. The performance was charged with raw emotion. It was poignant, heart wrenching, tender but also dramatic and impassioned. But above all, this interpretation was always sincere and honest in its approach to the music.

Conductor DKF maintained commendable control of the performance from first note to last, keeping balances clear and insightfully integrated and lavishing great care on preserving rhythmic tautness even when granting singers latitude in virtuosic passages.
— DON PASQUALE, Opera on the James

Conductor DKF clearly knew the music inside and out. The musical climaxes filled the theater with magnificent sound. The Orchestra gave an expert performance.

CARMEN AT SYRACUSE OPERA

CARMEN AT SYRACUSE OPERA

With DKF at the helm, every musical element was precisely on course Friday night as Syracusans witnessed a significant milestone in their shared cultural experience.

DKF conducted with remarkable control, bringing the larger-than-usual orchestra to a level of excellence that matched that of the leads (Greer Grimsley and Lori Philips). He led an exciting, emotional performance, and the Syracuse Symphony acquitted itself with honor. Who knew it was a Wagner orchestra? Kinney Frost deserves great credit for this achievement. This is a performance we’ll remember for a long time.
— Syracuse Symphony, DIE FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER
DKF showed remarkable vision and insight. His tempos and pacing allowed the story to unfold naturally, contributing to the success of the performance.
